There comes a point in prep, where you reach a certain weight or level of leanness, where above that, you’re good. Drop below it, and the discomfort begins. It’s different every prep for me. This is where it becomes more mental than physical. Energy drops. Body aches. Sleeps effected. Cravings increase. Hunger really sets in. Restlessness starts. Some of the simplest tasks may become a challenge. Now it’s not about how strong you are physically, but mentally. How much are you willing to endure. How far can you push yourself, before you give up mentally. Because your mind will always quit before your body. Can you keep your sanity when you may feel like you’re going crazy. If you don’t love these things to some degree. If you don’t enjoy pushing your body to a new level of discomfort each time. You may want to reconsider your choices. Bodybuilding may not be for you. Embrace the suck.
